◆ Veneers in Turkey · Istanbul

Porcelain veneers in Istanbul:
e.max veneers, not crowns.

Veneers, not crowns. The difference matters.

A veneer is a thin porcelain facing bonded to the front of the tooth — around 0.3–0.5 mm of enamel prepared. A crown is a full-reduction cap. When UK patients come home from abroad with "veneers" that are actually crowns, that is the difference they were never shown.

Veneer vs crown — the honest version

Two very different procedures. Too often sold under the same name.

◆

Veneer

0.3–0.5 mm of enamel prepared on the front face of the tooth only. Porcelain laminate bonded. The tooth remains alive. Reversibility is not complete, but damage is minimal.

◆

Crown

1.5–2.0 mm of the tooth reduced on all four sides. The tooth becomes a stump. Often the nerve must be removed first. Irreversible. Useful — but for restorative cases, not cosmetic ones.

If your previous quote called your treatment "veneers" but described full-arch preparation, you were being offered crowns. That may still have been the right answer. But you had the right to know.

Method

Preview first. Prep second.

01

Photography & scan

Portraits, intra-oral photos, 3D scan. Shade reading in daylight and studio light.

02

Digital design & mock-up

Design reviewed together. Composite mock-up tried in your mouth. You leave wearing the preview — for a day, if needed.

03

Minimal preparation

Enamel prepared in the 0.3–0.5 mm range. Preparation photograph recorded and filed.

04

Bond & finish

Veneers tried in. Shade checked. Adhesive bonding under rubber dam. Occlusion adjusted.

Materials

Two materials. Named.

01

e.max Press (Ivoclar)

Lithium-disilicate. Pressed and stained. Our default — strength, predictability, fifteen-year data.

02

Feldspathic · layered

Traditional porcelain, built layer by layer on a refractory die. Reserved for anterior cases where light translucency matters most.

◆

What we don't use

No prefabricated "no-prep" shells bonded over teeth they were never designed for — the result is bulk, not a smile. No-prep only where the case allows it, designed to your tooth (see our no-prep guide). No zirconia veneers — wrong material for anterior aesthetics. No unbranded porcelain.

FAQ

What UK patients ask.

Will my teeth be shaved down?
No — unless you specifically need crowns, which is a different procedure. For a veneer, 0.3–0.5 mm of enamel is prepared. We photograph the preparation and file the image with your case record.
Can I have "no-prep" veneers?
Yes — when your teeth allow it: small, short or spaced front teeth where adding a little volume is the goal. Then an ultra-thin e.max veneer (0.2–0.3 mm), designed to your tooth, is bonded with no drilling, and the treatment stays largely reversible. Protrusive, crowded or darker teeth look bulky with no-prep; there, minimal-prep (0.3–0.5 mm) gives the natural result. We decide after photos, a scan and a mock-up you wear first — and when no-prep is suitable, it takes priority, because we don't remove healthy enamel without a reason (our minimally invasive principles). Read the no-prep guide →
Will they stain?
Porcelain itself does not stain. The bonded margin, at the gum line, can accumulate pigment over years. Professional cleaning once a year resolves it.
Can they be removed?
The prepared enamel cannot be restored. The veneer itself can be replaced without further reduction, under most circumstances — we have replaced veneers for patients thirteen and fifteen years after placement.

◆ Aftercare · what happens when you fly home

Your treatment does not end at the airport.

Every patient leaves GC Clinic with a written warranty, a complete records pack in PDF for any UK dentist, and a structured WhatsApp follow-up schedule (24h · 72h · 1 week · 1 month · 3 months · 6 months · 12 months). Annual video review with Dr. Öztürk is standard. If a covered complication occurs in the warranty period, our "we fly you back" clause — written in your treatment agreement, not a marketing phrase — covers the return flight, hotel and corrective treatment.
