For UK patients recovering from treatment abroad

Turkey Teeth recovery,
without the judgment.

You came here because something went wrong — or feels wrong, or looks wrong. Whatever shape your case is in, the first thing is to see it clearly. We do not charge for the assessment, we do not moralise about the original decision, and we will tell you honestly what can be reversed, what cannot, and what the best next step would be.

Clinical assessment for Turkey Teeth recovery at GC Clinic Istanbul
Why this page exists

"Turkey Teeth" is not a country problem. It is a category error.

What the UK press labelled "Turkey Teeth" is a specific clinical pattern: patients who asked for veneers and received crowns — full reductions of healthy tooth structure. The porcelain is rarely the issue. The underlying preparation is. And the biology of an aggressive crown prep cannot be undone.

What can be done is an honest assessment of where you are now — followed by the least invasive plan that still addresses the real problems. Sometimes that is "leave it alone for now"; sometimes it is replacement; sometimes it is endodontic rescue of teeth that are borderline. The answer depends on your imaging, not on your narrative.

What we assess

Four clinical questions, in order.

01

Is there active infection?

Apical abscesses under previous crown work are the most common urgent finding. CBCT and periapical radiography clarify which teeth are symptomatic and why.

02

Are any teeth still salvageable?

A tooth that has had aggressive preparation but no pulp involvement may still be a candidate for endodontic treatment and a new, properly designed crown — rather than extraction.

03

What is the bite actually doing?

A lot of "Turkey Teeth" failures are occlusal — the new crowns have disrupted the bite, causing pain or fracture. A digital bite analysis is the second thing we do, after the X-rays.

04

What would a conservative rescue look like?

The plan we send back is the minimum intervention that restores function and aesthetics. Not a brand-new smile design — a rescue.

What recovery usually looks like

Honest pathways.

A

Bite adjustment only

About 20% of enquiries. The crowns themselves are not catastrophic; the bite needs adjusting and a night-guard needs fitting. One visit. A few hundred pounds.

B

Selective replacement

About 50% of enquiries. Two to six crowns replaced with properly designed work, remaining units kept. Staged over one 5–7 day visit or two shorter visits.

C

Full replacement with implants

About 25% of enquiries. Where teeth have been lost or pulp has necrosed, full rehabilitation is sometimes the only realistic path. Staged over two visits.

D

No treatment yet

About 5%. The honest assessment is that your existing work is better than any intervention would be. We will tell you that — and ask you to come back in two years.
